Sweet Potato Pie

This is another of my grandmas best recipes. If you think pumpkin pie is good, try this!
Best served with gobs of whipped cream.

Ingredients

1 unbaked 9-inch deep-dish pie shell
3 eggs - slightly beaten
3/4 cup granulated sugar
2 1/4 cups evaporated milk
1/2 cup (1 stick) butter - melted
1 1/2 teaspoons ground cinnamon
3/4 teaspoon salt (optional)
1/2 teaspoon ground ginger
1/2 teaspoon ground cloves
2 3/4 cups cooked sweet potatoes

Directions

Preheat oven to 425F

Combine sugar, salt, cinnamon, ginger and cloves in small bowl. Beat eggs lightly in large bowl. Stir in sweet potatoes and sugar-spice mixture. Gradually stir in evaporated milk. Pour into pie shell.
Bake for 15 minutes. Reduce temperature to 350F; bake for 50 minutes or until knife inserted near center comes out clean. Cool on wire rack for 2 hours.
Serve immediately or refrigerate.
