8 oz pasta
2 cups basil leaves washed
3 cloves garlic , peeled
1/2 cup walnuts, almonds, or pine nuts
1/2 cup olive oil
1/2 tsp salt
pepper to taste
1 chopped tomato
Cook pasta according to package directions.
Remove and discard the stems from the basil.
In a blender combine basil leaves with remaining ingredients, except tomato.
Blend until everything is very finely chopped and forms a paste.
Toss pasta with the pesto in a large bowl, toss in tomato and season with salt and pepper.
Serve warm or chilled
