This is from the 1975 edition of Joy of Cooking.

Teriyaki Marinade

1/2 cup vegetable oil
1 cup soy sauce
3 Tbsp brown sugar
3 garlic cloves, mashed
1 Tbsp graded fresh ginger root
2 Tbsp sherry

Mix well. I heat it in the microwave to help dissolve the sugar.
Marinate the meat 4 to 12 hours. Baste with the marinate during cooking
Since I get my soy sauce from Sam's I increase it X 4.
