    Default Vinegar

    Mint sauce and similar things, made of just leaves, vinegar and
    saccharin: is it necessary to heat/sterilise these, or are the leaves
    safe merely immersed in the vinegar? I'm thinking of trying hawthorn
    leaves.

    Are hawthorn leaves edible? I'm assuming oyu are talking about
    hawthorn tree leaves? I'd at least wash them well since they come from
    outdoors and have been exposed to squirrels, birds, insects, etc.
