Barb's Watermelon Pickles
got a blister peeling and chopping water melon rind for Barb's "the
Widow Dorothy's" Watermelon pickles today - doing the first 24 hour
soak in brine now.
I posted a question the group earlier today but apparently it never
showed up, so it really doesn't matter much now, but I was wondering
if any one who has made this recipe did the cold water/salt soak
before the cook...just curious

Miz Anne likes watermelon rind pickles, her Mom used to make them.
Difference is her Mom was feeding two teenage boys and two teenage girls
plus a toddler and herself and Dad. Waste not, want not was their motto.
I don't even eat watermelon anymore myself, too sweet for my diabetic
taste anymore.

I like the idea of using as much of the melon as possible - to the
point where if we don't get through the red part fast enough, I'll be
making jelly
