What, is she paying them off? Is this her conscience money for years of
promoting a lethal lifestyle, one she still refuses to change?

I just can't take any more Paula Deen, or her sons, or any thing that
any of them have anything to do with. They are money-grubbing,
opportunistic parasites now willing to leech off her illness while
denying any personal responsibility for her contribution to the larding
of her audience, and finding excuses to not have to change the way she
cooks. They're on TV telling interviewers that, like everybody else,
they must work for a living and that's why they have endorsement deals
with Novo Nordisk. What crap! Unless this family was abysmally poorly
invested over the last decade, I doubt that any of them have to work for
    a living anymore.

"I always said, moderation in all things, y'all..." Keep on braying
that, you sad fat old gray ass, and soon you'll have yourself convinced
that you really did say it at some point before January 2012.
Yeee-awwwww!! The Food Network needs to yank these donkeys off the air.

I know they will, and it's sad that they will. But it makes no
difference to me. When Good Eats went out of production, Food Network
went out of my channel line up.

I am just going to tag onto you opportunely,, Janet, and vent...this
has nothing to do with what you said above, tho.

And why shouldn't they run her shows? People watch them. I am not a
fan, but I don't think she should be criticized for an unhealthy
recipes or for making foods that are inappropriate for 3 meals a day
    plus snacks.

That stuff is her schtick. The more outrageous the ingredients, the
more her fans love it...like her drawl. I often get the same reaction
when Ina Garten, tosses a pint of sour cream and a cup or two of sugar
into something she is preparing....my reaction is "interesting, but
    not something I should eat."

Actors seem to make money just by going into rehab, Snooki makes
millions and all those housewives and teen moms do, too. And everyone
seems to love public adulterers and athletes on steroids. These TV
shows and personalities are not there to show us how to live our
lives. They only show us how others live, so we can ooh and ah on the
DVR or boo and hiss and change the channel. These venues are not
churches, their public confessions not being dealt with by priests.

All of these personalities have tie-ins with businesses, from K-Mart
and Target to Ford to Macy's, and they go out of their way to get
their names/endorsements pasted on as a brand on cookware, underwear
and everything else from hell to breakfast.

There is nothing Paula Deen has done that isn't being done by dozens
of celebs these days. It is capitalism and TV at their best and worst.
No reason to single her out. She makes crappy food. So what? She has
diabetes? So what? She isn't putting herself up for Surgeon General.
She has a cooking show that'd do as well on Comedy Central as on the
    Food Channel.

Why do you care so much? I don't give a rat's ass about anything
other than the way people here are obsessing about it. Your true
personalities are coming through and at the very least your blood
pressure is going up - so you might need to discuss upping your meds
    with your doctors.

Well, Smithfield now has to PAY Paula Deen something for using her
    likeness on their stinky sausage.

Buy some other non-sponsored sausage. Like from a local butcher.

LOL!! That's true. And I know that what she portrays isn't meant to be
taken as role modeling. *We* know these things, but not everybody does.
It is the lowest common denominator that has to be looked out for, as
well as those across the spectrum who know the difference but still look
for whatever justifications for bad/convenient behavior they can get.
The part that's getting to me the most is that Deen is rationalizing and
justifying and making excuses, while trying to maintain that she's
always promoted moderation as though she'll burst into flames if she
doesn't say it often enough, even though she knows she didn't do
anything of the kind. Denial and bargaining are are taking money from
Novo Nordisk. Denial and bargaining are contributing to the ADA. Denial
and bargaining are making diabetes awareness appearances on TV news
programs. Denial and bargaining are moving her to insist that, because
she's always talked about "moderation," she doesn't have to make any
changes to her own life style except cut down on sweet tea and use her
treadmill. Denial and bargaining are motivating her to use her TV shows
to continue promoting the same lethal "comfort foods" she's been
    churning out for years.

I've said it before and I'm sure I'll say it again: Those who are the
first to invoke adjustments to other people's "meds" are usually the
    ones who are taking them.

Why do you care why I care? If you really don't give a rat's ass then
don't bother to respond, lest your own true personality start coming
    through.

No rants from me. I have watched a few minutes of her show a few times.
She seemed to cook only things that were decadently sweet and rich. I
have not spent enough time in the US to know if people who don't live in

May I suggest either not watching her, or turning the TV off
altogether? Moderation in all things, y'all...

You say PD is so full of ****, I say 99.9% of TV is full of **** - it
generally angers me as much as PD seems to do to you. So I give it a
    big miss.

Just turn it off and read a good book, I say.

I stopped watching Paula Dean when she began telling dirty jokes. And those
