White Castle Law Suit
Seems a larger than normal NYC stockbroker is suing White Castle
because he cannot fit into a booth.
http://www.ibtimes.com/articles/2119...ger-booths.htm
It also seems White Castle sent him coupons for free food in reply to
his pre-suit complaints. LOL!
I wonder if certain NYC / high cost urban locations have snugger
booths / seating?

He is no even that big in the realm of the world of fast foods. Maybe
White Castle can just get some of it's 300-400 pound customers to sit in
their booths. I am sure they can bribe a bunch of tubbies to sit in them
for a few free burgers.

Boy, I wish we had a White Castle in our town. We don't even have one in
the state. I think that it would be great if White Castle was doing this
to increase awareness of the obesity problem facing this nation. OTOH,
I'm betting the floor space in the particular WC might be lacking. OTOH,
how much space do you need to cook such small burgers and do you really
need to sit to eat one of those? Those NY guys just don't appreciate
what they got.

Obesity causes heart disease.
OTOH we're talking stockbroker here.
I say make a special XL booth just for him.

I'm not saying these are good but I think White Castle is selling
frozen sliders nationwide. Also when's the last time you checked? I
was rather surprise at the growth of the WC chain.

dsi1,
The nearest White Castle is about 90 minutes too far from my house. BUT,
several supermarkets sell boxes of WC hamburgers and cheeseburgers in the
frozen food aisle. They don't come with the pickles or their brand of
mustard packets.
You could dial up your supermakets and see if they carry them and at least
try a box. Or not!
Best,

Isn't that like saying "they sell you junkfood and then they give you
small chairs so that you realise how far they scr***d you up" ?
Or is WC sellling above-the-standard healthy fast food? I dunno, in
Italy only Burger King and McD's did the trip here, and BK is long dead
in my region, I don't even know if some BK have survived in Italy, maybe
zero. Sure not a big number.

Maybe they should eliminate the booths and just provide those high
tables that people stand at to eat.

I love cooking with wine.
Sometimes I even put it in the food.

I have never been in a White Castle but I have seen booths I can not fit
into. There was a restaurant in Alameda that also sold ice cream. Most of
the booths were normal size but one had far less room between the seats and
the table. Little kids could fit in there just fine but only the thinnest
of adults would fit.
One of the La Palmera restaurants here has a few similar booths. And I have
been at another restaurant (can't remember the name) that also had a small
amount of space between the booth and the table. Now maybe it's not so much
my size but my shape. In some cases I could actually get in there but my
boobs were then resting on the table. This is not really something I want.
I did live in NYC but not in a high cost urban area. So I can't speak for
their booths.

Um... No. Sheldon would like that too much.

The lawsuit doesn't stand a chance. Restaurants have booths, normal table
seating sections and in some cases, counter seating!
Case dismissed!!!

White Castle should claim that they're doing a public service: if you
can't squeeze into a booth, you shouldn't be buying burgers, and if
you can barely squeeze in, the tight booth limits the amount you can
eat.
Many years ago, when Schrafft's Restaurants were semi-upscale, they
tacked a $.10 bread charge onto every check, with no mention of that
on the menu, even if you didn't ask for bread. One man complained at
the register, but had to pay in the end. Then he wrote the company a
letter pointing out that this was probably illegal and certainly
injurious to their reputation. The next day, he sent an invoice on
letterhead for legal advice in the amount of $50. The quick response
from Schrafft's legal department was that they had not asked for any
advice. He responded that he had not asked for any bread. Our hero
lawyer got his dime back and the practice was stopped.

I've had the frozen WC burgers. They are tasty. White Castle in Hawaii
would be pretty big news - I'd surely hear about that one.

I've gotten them at Costco at a good price. The ones in the supermarket
are slightly out of my hunger range. OTOH, I've been making some pretty
good burgers myself.

If one can get lunch cheap enough, having no seats is not too much of a
problem. There's not enough places in this country that have that
embrace that street-food philosophy. I've seen some Japanese movies that
have some guy in the middle of nowhere selling hot noodles on a cold
dark night - a very strange idea but cool idea.

You'd think there would be a lot of places like that in NYC.

It would have to be a region with a lot of American tourists. I
remember seeing a McDonald's with a Burger King opening up across the
street a block away from a train station the last time we were in
Europe. <shrug>
