I tend to, but when I'm conscious, I avoid grinding. When I'm asleep,
it's another matter entirely which is why I wear a mouthguard at
night. You can grind your teeth so that the enamel comes off, and
they get worn down to really small teeth.
I had no breakfast this morning. I'm having a 7 vegetable salad for
lunch along with one extra lean hamburger topped with tomato, onion,
mustard, hot sauce, and chipotle pepper hot sauce.

It's terrible for your teeth.
If you want to stop, next time you are in any store that has a
pharmacy or sporting goods department, stop and pick up a
sports mouth guard for $1. Most of them say to heat in boiling
water, then put in your mouth and bite down to shape them.
Then use it whenever you grind your teeth. You'll feel like
a real macho hockey player, but it works.

gloria p,
I tried a contraption like that (from the pharmacy) but it seemed too
unfamiliar/uncomfortable in nature to wear.
I'll try again with the mouthguard you mentioned.

That's good and not from a dietary POV. I'm thinking that you (and
Andy) need more crunchy things in your diet to work off some of that
negative energy. Try chewing gum, sugarless, of course. Look into
the food/oral part of a sensory diet. It wouldn't hurt for tooth
grinders to take a look and give it a try.

Probably. You'll know you're doing damage if you wake up bleeding.

This is a common medical/dental problem. Have your dentist consider making a
nightguard that specifically fits your teeth. This is very commonly done
these days. Check your insurance. Dental insurance does not tend to cover
the cost of nightguards. Your health insurance may cover it. The cost should
be approximately $500.

Not any more!!!!!!!!!! No teeth!
Seriously, my lower front teeth - about six of them - were ground down
below the gumline. My oral surgeon said it was because the dentist
who put crowns on my top six used too much metal on the backs of the
crowns and it just wore them right down - It did take about thirty
years.
New teeth coming soon after Thanksgiving . . . boy am I getting
skinny!

After all teeth are removed, there's usually too much space between upper and
lower jaws for them to actually meet. It's highly unlikely that one could
grind one's gums.
