What is your last meal going to be?
Most people know that December 20, 2012 is going to be the last day.
The world is going to end on the 21st. For most people, this means that
their last meal will be their dinner meal served on the 20th. Knowing
the end is going to occur hours later, what will your last meal be? Are
you preparing anything special? Do you plan to drink to excess during
or after this meal?

I've lived through too many "end of the world" scenarios to care.

If I really believed that (which I don't) I would smoke. I haven't had a
cigarette for 3 years, but I think a good cup of coffee with heavy cream and
a cigarette sounds grand.

And this one is crap, too. It's the end of the *current* Mayan calendar,
the new one starts on the 22nd.
All these 'Chicken Littles' running around like chooks with their heads
cut off are going to look awful sheepish :-)
Samesame that 'Doomsday Cult" that locked themselves in a cave and
committed suicide (?) rather than face "the end of the world" a few
years back!!

I never crave smokes any more, but I haven't had a slice of pizza with
the crust in years.
If I ever find out I'm terminal, I'm having a fresh, hot slice of NY
pizza with the crust.
And an everything bagel chaser.

There have been so many of them! I remember when people got scared
and left town because they were convinced something was going to hit
the earth and this was ground zero. There have been lots of mass
suicides for one nutty reason or another (usually based on being
manipulated by a crazy spiritual leader) and then there's the "big
one" - Jim Jones' (People's Temple) mass suicide in Guyana. That was
absolutely awful.

I haven't had one for over 10 years. The feel of the smoke filling my
lungs hold some appeal. The feel of the nicotine levels rising
quickly does too, but the idea of the taste of tobacco is really icky.

Apropos of another thread: Julia Child was asked that question during a CBC
Radio interview some years ago. She replied, in that unmistakable voice: "I
think I'd start with a half-dozen oysters followed by foie gras".
I'm not keen on the oysters but I'm with her on the foie gras.

Thanks for the tip--I'll take them. I'd start with a dozen on the half
shell and a precision-made martini.

Since I detest liver, I can't comment on the flavor, but doesn't foie
gras necessitate abusing a goose in a pretty awful way? I'm no animal
rights advocate, but I'd like to think that the animals I eat weren't
painfully tortured.

Animal rights nutters would have you believe that but it ain't so. It's in
their nature to gorge themselves and they line up to be fed. A British
veternarian avowed that they are treated a lot better than the chickens that
end up on your supermarket shelf.
I saw a FG operation in the Dordogne region of France last year. A healthier
looking flock of geese would be hard to find. I had a foie gras dish every
night of that holiday without a second thought. (BTW, my cholesterol level
is low).
I applaud the French Govt for declaring it as part of their cultural
heritage so that the meddling EEU politicians and other foreigners can't
force them to ban it.
You should try it! It is nothing like the calves' or ox liver which many
people detest (I can't understand why).

I'm having a slice of (vegetarian) pizza, with the crust, at the moment
:-)
With a large glass of cloudy Apple juice.

I would have a big plate of Mexican food. Probably, from a local
restaurant: vegetarian b: chalupa, rice, beans, cheese enchilada. With
extra hot salsa... Wouldn't have to be concerned about GI repercussions the
next day.
Though, in the Afterlife, do you still have to use the WC?

I worked with a guy named "chalupa" once. It's czech for cottage.

Yes, sometimes those cigs did taste really nasty. I don't miss that at all.
