Very OT: Economic Stimulus Package Date Question
Did any of you folks fall into the category for receiving your stimulus
package via direct deposit on May 2nd? That would mean your SSN would end
in the range of 00-20, and that you filed your income tax return timely
with any refund paid to you via direct deposit.
The last 2 digits of my SSN are 20; I file my income tax return the 1st
week of February, and received my refund via direct deposit through my
current checking account. I have yet to see or hear anything about my
direct deposit, although I did get the preliminary notification of the
package, in general.
I have tried every avenue I know of through www.irs.gov, but to no
satisfaction. There apparently is no way to talk to a human. Everything
is recorded, and whether I use the phone method to check on status, or use
the online inquiry, I get very general answers that payment might be May
16th or May 30th. Huh? There were *3* specific direct deposit dates given
that were supposed to cover everyone with direct deposit, mine being May
2nd.
I know of family members of co-workers who have already received their
money, but I'm not sure of their circumstances.
I apologize for the very off-topic and lengthy post, but quite frankly, I'm
pissed!

From what I understand, the "direct deposit" may well be snail mail.
There's some fine print in there somewhere.

I received a paper check i the mail on May 10th, and spent $300 on
groceries the next day.
Maybe they just don't like you.

I know why you missed it - because there is no mention of that

Did you have someone else do your taxes, like H&R Block or another agency?
Did they take their fees out of your refund? If you did, and they did, it
was a 3rd party direct deposit and you will get your refund by mail.
well, at least that is what my taxprep DH said.
I'm not counting on anything until the check is in my hand or the numbers
are in my bank account.

If you got your regular tax refund via direct deposit, your stimulus check
will also come via direct deposit. No fine print.
Did you file singly or with someone else that has a SS# with higher digits?
<sigh> The day we got our payment, our dishwasher died and one of the cats

For the last 6 years I've only done direct deposits for my refunds. My
Stimulus refund is said to be direct deposited on the 16th. I'll let you
know.

No, I prepared my own taxes using TaxAct who filed my return electronically
with a separate pe-paid fee. I've been using TaxAct for years with no
problem, and always paid the fees separately.
