Today's Kitchen Woot - Pyrex Bakeware w/Lids
This one looks more worthwhile than most of them lately.
http://home.woot.com/offers/pyrex-11...bake-store-set
$20, 11-Piece Set includes:
1 - 8" Square with Plastic Lid
1 - 3 Quart Oblong with Plastic Lid
1 - 2-1/2 Quart Mixing Bowl with Plastic Lid
1 - 1-1/2 Quart Mixing Bowl with Plastic Lid
1 - 1 Quart Mixing Bowl with Plastic Lid
1 - 9" Pie Plate
I have similar ones that I find very convenient. I have a couple
extra deep 8x10's (odd size, yes), a 6x9 and an 8" round w/90-degree
sides that I use fairly often. All with optionally vented lids for
cooling and storage in fridge. $20 + $5 chipping ain't a bad deal -
much less than I paid all together. And none of them have exploded.
Yet.
Not sure how useful the bowls would be for use in the oven, but there
they are for microwaving and general mixing/storage.

For what it's worth we have purchased 2 of the bake and store Pyrex sets. I
have been very dissatisfied IIRC one of the shows explained the formula for
Pyrex has changed. I have had to throw away several pieces. The new design
does not nest well and chips easily. (nesting several pieces of the same
size) I now have to place a paper towel between each nesting piece or they
stick.

Yes, when the Pyrex brand name was sold off, the products were changed
from expensive borosilicate glass to cheap soda-lime glass. Old
borosilicate stuff is really clear, while the new soda-lime stuff has a
greenish tint.

Oh swell! An entire set of exploding bakeware.

I have Pyrex stuff with greenish, blueish, and yellowish tints. My
borosilicate stuff is colourless.

I don't think that is such a good deal -- for $5 I can chip them
myself :O))

My old borosilicate Pyrex is quite clear.

I have a few individual pieces from that set, like the 13x9 with lid,
and a few bowls with lids. I use the bowls for mixing, and sometimes
for salads that might be lasting in the fridge for a few days. I've
never tried cooking with the bowls.
If I didn't have those, the whole set would be useful and I'd buy it.

My Puerto Rican dear friend died recently. Oh how I loved her. My favorite
expression from her was that it was not 'izzy'. Izzy is a word that I'll
always hold close in my heart. Throw in some Puerto Rican here now and then,
Sqwertz. I need it. Polly

Sorry, the only Puerto Rican I know is from the movie Scarface. And
even that dude was Italian.
