Is there deception???
The host of Iron Chef America (Mark Dacascos) has claimed many times
to be Takeshi's nephew (original Iron Chef). This said making him the chairman
of Iron Chef America when the actual relationship is only between the fictional
characters played in movies by the two men. He is only an actor playing a part,
it takes something away from the show.
Yes I know it's only entertainment but thought I'd bring this up anyway.

The original Iron Chef Japan was a comeby in the style of Hollywood
Squares. I consider this tidbit to be a carryover from that. The
initial Iron Chef America specials hosted by William Shatner followed
the original comedy model and were not as popular as expected. I figure
FoodTV execs increased the competition aspect of the show thinking that
would match US tastes better. It worked but they kept that "In the
words of my uncle" bit as a nod.
