SOUR CREAM CHRRY DROPS
1 1/2 * * * * * cups firmly packed brown sugar
*****1/2 * * * * * cup butter -- softened
**********1/2 * * * * * cup sour cream
**2 * * * * * * * * * * eggs
**1 * * * * * teaspoon vanilla
**2 1/2 * * * * * cups all-purpose flour
**2 * * * * teaspoons ground cinnamon
**1 * * * * * teaspoon baking soda
**********1/2 * * teaspoon ground nutmeg
*****1/2 * * teaspoon salt
****1 * * * * * * * cup dried cherries -- cut in
half*
Heat oven to 350ºF.
Combine brown sugar and butter in large mixer bowl. Beat at medium
speed, scraping bowl often, until well mixed (1 to 2 minutes). Add sour
cream, eggs and vanilla.
Continue beating until well mixed (1 to 2 minutes). Reduce speed to low.
Add flour, cinnamon, baking soda, nutmeg and salt. Beat until well mixed
(1 to 2 minutes). Stir in cherries by hand. Drop dough by rounded
teaspoonfuls 2 inches apart onto ungreased cookie sheets.
Bake for 10 to 14 minutes or until set.
*You can substitute 1 cup raisins.

Have you tried this recipe with dried cranberries ("Craisins")?
With cherries, I think I'd leave out the cinnamon (and maybe the nutmeg)
and add almond extract.
