Mashed spuds, gravy, and beer go great with roast fresh ham.

First I think of ham sandwiches on a sturdy white bread with mayo,
mustard, lettuce, tomato and sweet pickles. I could almost enjoy ham
sammies every day. Second I dream the ham has been roasted by my
daughter because hers is the very best. She learned last year that on
the days after Easter,Thanksgiving and Christmas, her local grocers
both cut whole ham pricing waaay down for two reasons: because too
many were left unsold, or because the ones remaining did not sell if
they were rather odd-shaped. She plans each year to have freezer room
for a collection of Ugly-Hams that she roasts at least monthly, saving
the deliberately left quite meaty hocks for addition to her also the
best, cheesy potato soup.

Cook's brand partially cooked bone in ham. Cooked in the smoker at 300
degrees until done. Carve up and the bone goes directly in the crock
pot for beans the next day. I'm drooling as I type this.

Tequila and lemon lime marmalade mixed, sploshed over the (peeled) ham, and
the whole thing baked in the Weber.
Served warm for Christmas dinner (or any dinner).

I don't really think of it much.
I admit to liking ham and pickle salad sandwiches. In the 35 years that
I have been married I have bought three small ham steaks, and one very
small cooked ham, and that one was to use for ham and pickle. I really
don't care for ham. I will eat it if it is served for me, but I don't go
out of my way for it.

a. I always think of church suppers. Ham 'n' beans were the usual
fare.
b. something usually too salty. Ham is not one of my favorite foods,
and I don't think I have EVER ordered it in a resto.
