Those that chew with their mouths open or take very large bites of
food and do not chew but to get the food into smaller "globs" that can
be swallowed best...and fast.
I worked next to a girl who could down an entire 12-inch, loaded
submarine sandwich in less than half the time in which I could eat my
own six-inch one. Plus she also had a habit of blowing her nose while
I was still eating. Our desks were but four feet apart. Yuck! For
those reasons only, I was so glad when she retired five years ago and
her job was eliminated.

I don't understand how people can eat some things quickly. Subs are one and
salads are another. Takes me a looong time to eat a salad. Other people
seem to inhale them. I wonder if it has to do with my not eating dressing?
The fast eaters seem to drown theirs in dressing.

Yes. Dressing helps salad go down easier, as does washing it down (if
it's dressing-less) with your drink.

Probably has to do with the condition of your choppers... folks with
poor dental hygiene have trouble with foods that need serious chewing.
Try cutting your raw veggies into smaller bits and prepare it more
like a salsa cruda. Large sandwiches like subs are much easier to eat
when sliced into manageable portions (1" thk).
Add whatever veggies you like but cut small and precisely:

I learned to eat fast in the service. It took a long time for me to
finely slow down.

I almost never put anything on salad except lemon juice and a little
grated Parmesan, and I can polish off half of a large head of iceberg
with onions and tomatoes in just a few minutes. I don't do that in
public though.

Bleu Cheese Dressing IS MY favorite beverage!
