I must confess, my killfilter has been set to never expire. It's much
easier that way.

My kill filters are variable on this system.
I like having choices.
Andy was considered to be totally worthless long ago so the killfile was
permanent.
Twit actually knows how to cook but he was being an ass. I chose to
have his killfile terminate when I thought that his asshole thread might
run out. I think he actually has some long term value.

I'm using Mozilla Thunderbird and they are probably variable on mine
too. I just can't be bothered with the decision on whether to make an
entry permanent or temporary hence all are permanent!

My choices have two options, in or out.

Oh, you haven't met some of my stalkers then! They go well beyond
totally worthless!

I'm not a particularly good cook myself. My wife has long despaired of
ever teaching me to cook anything beyond a basic meal. On the other
hand, she is an excellent cook.

I only filter posters when it becomes patently obvious that they don't
have any value, long term or short term.

I agree and the "block sender" command in OE6 makes it an easy job.

But it is all relative and a matter of personal opinion. ;-)

Whatever works for you. For me, my default is temporary, mostly so I
don't clog up my killfile with those posts trying to sell shoes, watches
and lamps. Sometimes, people get weird, also. Either they stop being
weird, or they stop posting. In either case, my killfile doesn't get
clogged up. Now, in an additional few seconds, instead of hitting
RETURN, I can click one box first, and then the entry is permanent. But
that's the exception rather than the usual.

Some, like the twit, spurtz, hey-zues et al, don't.

I don't think lots of entries in your kf will impeded the running of your
machine ;-)

With Xnews it's just a matter of hitting the letter k whilst viewing the
post, and then either entering a number from 1-100 for days to be
'killed', or enter 0 for forever. It's just soooooooooo much easier to hit
the zero. The default is 100 days.
