I used to get great German beer from Germany delivered right to my door,
courtesy of the US Air Force!

A friend of the family flew a C141 cargo plane to Germany all the time,
delivering supplies and equipment and then buy a case and fly it back and
drive it over to the house the next day.

He flatly refused to take any money. He only asked that I not throw away
the bottles so he could get his deposit back. The bottles had the hinged
lock-on caps. The brewery would wash, sterilize and refill them.

He once thought to air drop the case into my backyard. I laughed at the
idea.

It was great for about a year until he moved out of range and it was no
longer practical.

I miss my "German Connection."
