A pizza wheel is also good for cutting pastry dough without stretching
it or tearing it.

And I use my 10" chefs knife for cutting pizza. Send me your knives
if you're not going to use them anymore. And I'll send you another
pizza wheel!

I didn't see the prior reply but... The plastic ones I have do not actually
cut pizza. So I really doubt they would cut veggies. The one I use that
does cut pizza (I actually have two) is shaped sort of like a Mezza Luna.
You rock it back and forth to cut it. I had a metal wheel prior and it
didn't do a very bang up job of cutting either.

In Chi-town, the pizza joints use a bigass rocking knife on their thin
crusts.

I can't see how it would be safer, I think it would be dangerous for
cutting most veggies. The pizza cutter is designed to cut using one
hand only. With veggies one needs to hold both the veggie and the
cutter, too easy for the cutter to skew over and slice off some skin
or worse. It certainly wouldn't be neater either. There are already
such devises for mincing herbs but those incorporate a gang of cutting
wheels, they are shielded, and used with one hand only. Quilters cut
fabric with a knife that looks like a minnie pizza knife, if one isn't
very careful it will slice into the hand steadying the straight edge.
I think scrapbookers use a similarly wheeled knife... but these
hobbiests aren't making many cuts in rapid succession as one would
with cutting veggies... I'll stick with my chefs knife.

I see, so the statement above "Mine is plastic. I doubt that it would cut those"
is wrong on yet another level: You have a pizza cutter that won't cut pizza, yet
you still call it "mine" and you keep it to use for what?
