She was resting in a protected sunny spot under a huge Norway spruce
where what little snow had accumulated had already melted... you can
still see a hint of frost from the snow in front of her. Deer don't
bed down in the snow. If they can't find a bare spot under a tree
they will dig down to lie on the bare ground, a good survival skill to
remember if you ever need to spend a night in the woods.

Good point! So if I see a card with a deer bedded down in the
snow, it's doctored.
