OT..... a very odd thing
The other day I was out running errands on my motorcycle. I was at a
hardware store and just about to get on my bike when a pickup pulled up
beside me. The passenger looked a little odd, but I wasn't really
paying much attention to him though he seemed to be intrigued by me and
the bike and, besides, there were reflections from the window and I was
wearing dark sunglasses.
The driver got out first and I have to say that he was an off looking
character, and the cigarette hanging out of his mouth didn't do much to
enhance the image. Then the passenger got out. Part of the reason that
he had looked odd was that he had an oxygen line to his nose, and he was
carrying the portable oxygen tank.
That left me wondering.... what the hell was the driver doing smoking in
the cab of a pickup truck when the passenger has a serious enough
respiratory problem that he has to be sucking on oxygen ??? And isn't
it dangerous to smoke around oxygen? I remember the good old days when
you used to be able to smoke in hospital rooms...... unless someone in
the room was on oxygen.

this is a long read but explains it pretty well.

Racing his buddy for the Darwin award?
Reminds me of my neighbor who chain-smoked unfiltered Lucky Strikes
all day and plugged in his oxy nosepiece at night.

Add the can of beer while suffering from cirrosis as well as the
cigarette and oxygen at the same time - I remember one late family
member doing that. I was dumbfounded when I saw him doing that. I
didn't want to be anywhere near him fearing an explosion.

What's unfiltered got to do with it?
The filter only keeps bits of tobacco
out of your mouth -- it doesn't lower
your risk of lung cancer or emphysema.
I'm reminded of a criticism I once read
of reporting a murder with a claw hammer.
Like it would have been a less heinous
crime if it was some other type of hammer.
