It's supposed to head straight for us. I'm kind of hoping it will. We're
directly near the 8 pm Tues. mark.

If you wish for a natural disaster, it'll never happen when you
    want it to.

And Tuesday is a long time to wait.

    Why on earth?

And can you send me the blue pan before you bite the big one, please?

Yeah, I know. Sigh. I'm expecting a mere sprinkling. But a girl can only
    hope.

Wow! You *are* going to get it. Bulls-eye! I know you need to
water, but what do you plan to do for yourselves? Hopefully, you'll
get out while the getting is good.

You're in the tropics...what to be depressed about? Drink several cutsie

    I wouldn't evacuate for a cat 5.

A few years back my Mother's next door neighbors took off to Orlando due to
    impending doom (Charlie I think).

They didn't get the first twig blown into their yard at home, but the roof
blew off the Motel they stayed at in Orlando.

Jeanne was the scariest one I've sat through here, but even then I don't
believe the winds got over 65 mph. She passed almost directly over the
    house.

We're in a very protected area here. Miles from the nearest evacuation
zone. About 40 miles from the coast.

We're actually about 5 degrees north of the tropics. We have Winter here!
It happened on a Thursday last year. A very cold night indeed!

I was in Florida during an approaching hurricane that never reached land
but for two days all the trees were leaning seawards as the hurricane
sucked in air. An impressive sight!

There was a columnist who wrote in the Houston newspaper about preparing for
disasters. As you know we get out share of awful things from time to time.
He mentioned how there is a feeling of almost disappointment when it doesn't
happen. So no you may not be as weird as you think. But after watching
Katrina tear up NO I was very thankful Rita went elsewhere.

You and TFM need to get outside and huff and puff at it. Blow it back
where it came from. Our weather here has been beautiful for almost 2
weeks. We don't want no stinkin' aftermath from no tropical depressions.

That (about Katrina) I can understand, but we don't live in any kind of
flood zone and we always seem to fall into the "gap" when most rain comes.
Quite frankly, I'm looking forward to some rain and storms. We'll just have
    to wait and see.

I have NO idea why you keep hoping for a tropical storm or hurricane! If
this thing holds on course (and strengthens) Mom and I may have to head
inland early next week. It's too soon to tell.

While you're at it, blow it past the coast of SC. I really don't want to

Jill, I know it sounds weird, but after living in California and Hawaii for
20 years, do you have any idea how little it rains in either place? I want
my first tropical storm! I have always loved watching the weather and there
hasn't been much to watch for the past 25 years of my life. You've been in
Tennessee for years and you get hit by major storms all the time, but I've
lived in places that have been totally dry. So, this is kind of exciting to
me. Still, it's too early to tell what's going to happen. I'm just
enjoying watching it on the radar.
