Our local PBS station shows Lawrence Welk for an hour or two every
single weekend, in prime time. It's awful, but I guess the ol' Iowa
farmers love it, or it wouldn't be on.

You should have heard him when he was Lawrence Welk and the Hotsy
Totsy Boys!!.... Really!
At age 21 Welk left home, and by 24 he had formed the Hotsy-Totsy
Boys. At the same time he began investing in a series of small
businesses. Although original, an accordion-shaped grill that served
"squeezeburgers" failed to charm the customers.

Back in the 50's it was a very popular show on Sunday nights. Sponsored by
Dodge, there was a contest where you could win a new Dodge every year for
life.
He had very high standards for his employees too. Everyone had to have that
squeaky clean image. (think- dictator) Singing/music shows were very
popular back then. Hit Parade, Sing Along With Mitch, Kate Smith, Perry
Como, Stump the Band, you could even Swing & Sway With Danny Kaye, and lots
more.

Every so often they do but it sucks. Only thing in sight is a Wendy's
