OT: Super Bowl
Last year this group was filled with threads about superbowl foods-did
everyone lose interest this year?
I am watching this year simply to view the commercials. The Hyundai car
commercial just now was hillarious. (The Calvin Klein underwear
commercial no doubt excited someone in our group-I have this vision of
beer bellies over the waistbands prancing in front of their mirrors.)
Surprised with Super Bowl airtime prices to see advertisements for
movies but where else could you reach the largest male audience ever at
one time about a violent, complete with car and plane crashes, movie?

That helps to explain the half time show... Beyonce.
What a refreshing change from Canada's Grey Cup half time show where
they had Justin Beiber. A lot of people were upset that the audience
booed him. What did the expect when they got a teenbooper idol to
entertain a football crowd.

Justine Bieber? :-)
I had never seen Beyonce before and had just about decided she didnt
have a singing voice til later in the show when I caught "glimpses" of a
real voice. It would have been awesome to be there to watch that show
for the lighting effects.
Modern talent should sing one quiet song so we know they have a real
singing voice.
It takes alot of courage for any woman to go on stage and stomp their
thighs lol That leather lace was pretty cool.

I was very surprised by the Calvin Klein ad.

Most of these movies won't even be out for months.

This is far from a yawner. I've never seen the power go out at a
superbowl game!

Actually, I think it was an exciting game and the best team won.

I thought for a while there that the power outage hurt the Raven's mo,
but they came back. Good game!

I do think it hurt their mo, but it was overcome.

Re: Super Bowl
I just naturally support the underdog, especially when the sportscaster
expurts go ga-ga over the other team. The very last play was quite a
moment; I'd like to know more about the odds/decisions. wow. Polly

Not me. This year, some oriental chicken wings, home baked pita
chips with fresh guacamole. Cheese and crackers, pepperoni and
cream puffs.

There were a few fun commercials (I got a kick out of the Taco Bell ad).
I didn't get why all the hoopla over the Volkswagon commercial, was
someone offended by it somewhere?
I wore purple and gold Mardi Gras beads and they worked. Well, I was
wearing clothing too, don't get me wrong.

I didn't think anything would stop them after Jones' kick return
to start off the second half.
This year I didn't really have my heart set on either team winning
but I was rooting for the Ravens, despite that I always like the
niners.

RFC is littered with all sorts of Super Bowl threads every year, but
apparently the most frequent team boosters teams weren't playing (like
the Patriots and Giants). Every single year rfc seems to be filled
with super bowl posts, but this year's posts amounted to a sour grapes
reaction after a mild mention of foods to serve during the game.
Well, I know how I'm going to be posting next year if my team *isn't*
in it again. I will disparage anyone who DARES mention anything...
even if the post is food related, and especially if the Patriots or
Giants are playing. Turn about is fair play.

I still don't "get" Beiber. What a cheesy looking dork and he can't
sing either.

I like her voice and I think she has real talent! Not crazy about her
dance numbers, but that's how she markets herself to young male
audiences.
