Here's another hat for you to feast your eyes on...

This one was worn by our Speaker Gwen Mahlangu-Nkabinde at the opening
    of Parliament.

I love it! And Perfectly coordinated with the outfit. What a riot. You
gotta give these women an A+ for their fashion efforts. Any chance we can
get one of those in tin foil?

Have you ever seen a catalog for African American women? Many many
have hats that come with the suit and are part of the ensemble. I
think a group of black women in hats like this and dressed to match
looks like a lovely bouquet of flowers. That said, would I wear one?

If you go to most churches with a large black population
you will see some gorgeous hats, most of them custom made
and most quite large and showy. Those ladies take their
    hats seriously and look stunning.

Here's a page from the catalog Midnight Velvet. They show the hats
    with the suits.

I remember when wearing gloves and hats were part of a proper
    ensemble.

Why not? Aretha Franklin wore that weird hat to Obama's inauguration.
    She's hardly tall and slender

    http://freep.com/article/20090122/COL27/901220379?imw=Y

BTW the Smithsonian Institution has requested the hat for display.

The African women in London also wore those wonderfully complicated
folded and twisted headcloths (gele), often matching their tops and
    skirts.

You too? How old fashioned! I feel positively retro when I put on
gloves just to fight the cold.
