They would call adult protective services-- or.. I better not say.

Ray Davies almost shook my hand. Was in the front row in Denver in
the late 80s, and he was shaking everyone's hand. Shook my roommate's
standing next to me, then stopped and went back to dancing around
    stage.

I made a will recently and put in it two songs to play, if there's a
    service. One is:

And he didn't ask your roommate to come dancing with him, like they used
to do at the Palais where all the big bands used to play? ;o)

Damn roommate was only there because I wanted to go and I couldn't find
anyone else. I shoulda gone by myself, then it would have been my hand he
    slapped!

I saw them in '83 when Word of Mouth came out. Donnie Iris opened, "love is
like a rock"... When Ray strummed the beginning chords to Lola, the crowd
rose as one. It was a religious experience... Of course he stopped and
toyed with the crowd, but after the bit of foreplay launched into an rousing
    rendition.

While living in San Diego, the Kinks came to town. A friend and neighbor
was a member of the arena lighting crew. He gave us tickets and backstage
    passes to the show.

Backstage was a total disappointment. Except for two limos, it was barren!
    Void of life. Eerie!

We were backstage when they closed the show. The band ran straight for the
limos and climbed into one. The other limo was a decoy. And in mere seconds
    they were gone!

I'd expect as much from Ray rhe Recluse, but I woulda thought Dave the Rave
woulda hung around looking for groupies, and drugs (though I'm not sure what
year it was. And not sure what years he was on/off drugs.... Dave's kinda
a weird dude. He was on letterman once talking about the aliens. I like
Chosen People but the dedication is a bit creepy. They say drugs messed him
    up.

I once drove all the way to Denver to see them in the 90s, about 1,000
miles. (I used to live there so wanted to go anyway. But it was my anchor
event for going there. When I got to the ticket office for the event, they
said the show had been cancelled... (but, but, I drove all this way to see
them... Apparently, Ray had broke his ankle or something.)

I heard they used to get cases in their early days.

That 1,000 effort had to be an awful let down!!! Maybe worse all the way
    home?

My show was in 1980, iirc.

"Alcohol" is a funny/sad/clever song. It was almost funnier when he's
singing and sipping a beer and forgot where he was in lyrics. I still
gave him credit for easily getting out from under the blunder so matter-
    of-factly.

    Thanks,

    Andy

I was listening to GTPWW on CD on the way to and from my dads. Just
    happened across this:

They must have still been in there late 30s then?

Now, just came across an A&E biography on the Kinks. Didn't know A&E did
one about them. Will have to download and watch, sitting on my sofa.

It must have been amazing to have seen the Rockpalast show live. Captured
on video it's amazing. It does a good job of showing what a showman Ray was
at that time, and how great Dave's playing was.

I visited all your URLs but they were choppy bandwidth-wise.

I'll check them again later when they quiet down.

It's easier to download them and watch, if that's the case. That's what I
do most the time any more. Anyway, if you use Firefox there's a bunch of
addins that will download youtube and some others.

This one is downright strange. No Dave Davies? Ray Davies guitar isn't
    even plugged in
