OT::FYI Jill is *not* in the hospital!
She was being released as of a couple of hours ago.
I think she is going home to sleep the sleep of the
undisturbed-by-cleaning-nurses.
Home for her birthday, which is Saturday. Always a good
thing.

Fuggedaboudit. (laugh) I don't know what she'll be eating,
truth be told. I think her love of soup is going to come in
really handy.

Dimitri,
Yeah, that's true. Split pea is cold weather soup.

Glad to hear it. She is one of my favourites here, and I
know who sick you can be and not be admitted to the
hospital, so I hate to think how bad she must have been.

Although I made some "leftovers soup" a few days ago for an ill person:
1/2 LB White Beans
1/2 LB Black Beans
1 Onion Diced & Sautéed
2 Carrots Diced & Sautéed
1 large Ham hock (Hormel I think)
3 Nice bay leafs
1/2 cup white vinegar ++
1/2 cup sugar
Salt
Pepper
Enough water & Chicken stock to fill a Dutch oven to 90%
Simmer uncovered until the beans are tender & the liquid is reduced to about
70% remove the ham hock & dice the meat & add back to the pot.
The added some leftover green bean & diced tomatoes (probably 1 cup)
1/2 cup frozen peas
1 cup salad macaroni
Simmer till the peas & macaroni were tender.
A nice hearty well tolerated soup.

Dimitri,
I've saved your recipe. I'm still stuck on Mom's AND Pea Soup Andersens,
Buellton, CA split pea soup recipe. Mom passed on but I'd swear she's
working in their kitchen.
Next favorite soup? French onion!
Best,
Andy

I'm glad she's going home. One can't sleep in the hospital unless dosed up
with lots of morphine.

Thanks for the good news, I am glad to hear she is home. People always
feel better when they are home in their own beds.

Oh pahleese.. we have much better drugs than Morphine..heheheheheheh
But yeah, sleep is often a problem in hospitals. Even when unconscious
for days and weeks on end, they're not getting that restorative REM
sleep, y'know?
Goomba, who makes people unconscious and comatose for fun and pay...
