Ok, maybe not. The mo has changed this quarter.

That was a little too close for me. And it's all because I went out
and got some chipped ham at the last minute - that gave us the 7
points we needed.
Andy - your team already lost. Pittsburgh is not accepting any
two-faced fans from Philadelphia. Better luck next year.

That was a nail-biter! Good game! Silly mistakes by the Ravens. They
don't usually play like that.

Is this a new team/new league? I am not familiar with that team name.

The Baltimore Ravens used to be the Cleveland Browns. The Browns were
bought by Baltimore to fill the loss of the Baltimore Colts when they
were bought by Indianapolis. Baltimore was without a football team
since 1983. The old Browns team was bought in '95 and began playing in
the '96 season. The Browns name wasn't bought in the transaction, and
the name "Ravens" came from the Poe poem because he lived in the
Baltimore area for times, and is buried there.
My Eric was a big Ravens fan. I'm sure he was watching today's game.

Are you serious? They've been around over 20 years and I'm just
hearing about them? LOL! I actually thought the Browns were still in
business.

2010 minus 1996 is 14.

No, only 15 years. And, there is a new Browns team now. Not sure when
they were formed because I don't follow them.

Thanks, Wayne! I don't feel quite as far out of the loop now.

It's funny how franchises move around. On the day Eric was born, the
Redskins were playing the Cardinals, or I could swear they were. too
long ago. I can remember football being on in the labor room on TV, and
my ex was a Cardinal fan. They were the St. Louis Cardinals at that
time. 10/7/1979. Just now looking it up online, I can't find where the
skins played the cards that day. weird. Funny how your memory plays
tricks on you. Also strange how on such a memorial day, what you think
you remembered might not be so.

You're welcome. Having been living in Cleveland when all this was
happening made it an easy answer. :-)

Actually, Browns owner Art Modell wanted a new stadium with luxury
boxes so he could make more money, and he wanted the city of Cleveland
to pay for it. The city of Cleveland would not build him a stadium as
they had recently (early 90's) financed a new Baseball stadium for the
Cleveland Indians. He decided to move the Browns to Baltimore for the
1996 season. The league decided that because of the rich historical
heritage of the Browns franchise, that Modell would have to rename the
team when they went to Baltimore and be treated for all extents and
purposes as an expansion team with no previous history, and a new
Cleveland Browns expansion team would be put in Cleveland for the 1999
season that would retain the Browns history. Modell renamed the team
the Baltimore Ravens, and the Browns players and staff moved with the
team, but the team's history and color scheme stayed in Cleveland.
There was no Cleveland Browns team from 1996-98; they only existed on
paper as a historical trust. When the 1999 season started, the Browns
came back to the NFL with the classic brown, orange and white colors.
