Most of us can use a variety of search engines and find recipes. If
you have personal experience with a recipe, then it's helpful if you
would discuss it.

If you just want to post recipes without discussion, then they should
probably go to rec.food.recipes.

Welcome, Christian. For myself, I'd rather see a recipe than a link to
one. If you want to include the link with the recipe and attribution,
that's nice, too.

Please don't post unsolicited recipes without any commentary and
without having tried it yourself first and declaring it w3orthy of
special attention. Videos are not recipes.

And just for the record, we don't care what you have every morning
for breakfast unless it's unique.

Funny how all spam taste the same.

Like over the top naivety and ersatz innocence are an integral part of
the recipe for spam, and often with a reference to an ingredient not
used in the spam presented for consumption.

Of course, We wouldn't be Us if We didn't comment on the equally absurd
responses to it. I can tell its spam before its out of the can, some
people have to taste and make a face and declare, "its, too! bad!!"

There was a "guy" over in A.C-C. (alt.cooking-chat) the other day that
came on with the "newbie" all innocent and naive speech of admiration
for ACC and literally 7 minutes later posted a chain letter "guaranteed"
to make us millionaires. It was a new A.C.-C record, 7 minutes from a
declaration of new membership to a sales pitch, a new ACC record.

I got an e mail just labeled "spam" with no return addresses at all, no
links to anything, and actually titled "spam".

I suppose who ever sent it out was phishing to see if mine was a real e
mail address.


I used to think such faux advertising was pointless in these newsgroups
but then i recalled how many really ugly, mean spirited people send all
sorts of willfully vile, obscene and null content purgatorios to these
groups.

I cant imagine any one being ignorant enough to buy fake shoes or viagra
from an news group but i can see a lot of people here posting such
"spam" for more esoteric reasons of their own, with an agenda whose
primary consideration is not the making of money or even acquireing
credit card numbers but rather, specificaly to disgust the readers of
the group. To upset those of the readers of the group who would be
upset with such things, such transparent attempts to scamp as well as
spam. Odd though, how it never seems to occur to either group, the
spammers, and those they most upset, that the so called "mail filter" is
easily utilized to eliminate all but the most perniciously persistent.

What was with all the porn advertising that the links to were all 404,
page not found? Somebody was inundating many, many diverse groups with
lists of porn links, none of which worked!

I mean really! if your going to pornspam a group you should at least
use functioning links

Pretty simple I would think (just guessing):

1. Spammer sets up web page
2. Spammer spams
3. Newsgroup reader complains to host site about spam
4. Site deletes web page
5. You follow link and find that page has been deleted

Which was a speedy resolution. Most offending sites are not taken
down that quickly.

Many other things, on a daily even moment to moment level i may lie
diplomaticaly or stratigcaly but to lie about 'sex'? i do not
understand....and of course i mean epiphenominologicaly, fake URL's? why
bother?

Why go to the bother of setting up porn web sites and exstenivly
advertising them with 'XXX blurbs' that got my attention, only to find a
404, null contenet, non existent!

As i wrote after "clicking" on those links a few times i just filtered
the liar.

Hmmm...

I suggest keeping your browsers on high security when going to these
newbie web site suggestions. In rec.gardens a newbie was suggesting a
web site that he knew had malware on it. He was getting paid to do it.
He started the phrase the same way... "I just joined the group, I think
its pretty cool". He got caught in rec.gardens and confessed.
