The Lemon King of Corona (Heads-Up)
I went there for the first time in years the other day, he waters down
his ices now. I remember like around eight years ago his business was
up for sale (five million dollars).

You went where? Why do you assume everyone here knows where this place is?

She'd never heard of it. Neither had I. The place simply *isn't*
that well known, so the OP needed to provide context. Adding Queen's
NYC would have been *that* hard to type? I was about to KF the
thread, but I saw all of your names and I decided to see what you
(plural) said. KF time! <waving>

Hey I remember the Lemon King of Corona from back in the 60s and 70s. Do you
still live in Queens?

For some reason I thought Corona (as in del Mar). Then I thought Corona
beer, wait, but that's lime isn't it? How the hell was I supposed to know
it's some joint in Queens?!

sf replied to Dave Bell, not to you, Wayne. Dave seems to think everyone is
supposed to look up some obscure reference to figure out what an [unknown,
at least to me] poster is talking about.

Neither had I...and adding Queens would have changed everything now. I

You know you're in pretty sad shape when Jill has to explain
something to you.

Re: The Lemon King of Corona (Heads-Up)
Jill,
Here is where the Lemon Ice King of Corona is, at the southwest corner
of 108th Street and Corona Ave (and 52nd Ave), just south of the
famous Parkside Restaurant.
If you use Live Earth, the link below will get you there but then it
bounces you out so that you have to select the top selection on the
left banner.
Corona is just West of where the World's Fair was and The Lemon Ice
King is a historical site in NYC. Now that we have Ralph's Ices, the
need to go to Corona is only a nostalgic one or a craving on the way
to Manhattan. It is only about 7 or 8 blocks North of the Long Island
Expressway Service Rd. (Horace Harding Expressway)

If he was more broadminded and ambitious, couldn't his product have
caught on all throughout America and maybe be sold in supermarkets?
He's a multimillionaire and lives in a mansion in Long Island, but he
could have more than one store and probably mass-produce it. Like one
in Greenwich Village would be a good location. He inherited the
business from his father, so maybe he is not a natural businessman. He
used to just sit there in the back all day. I never saw him move a
muscle except for in an American Express commercial where he actually
served an ice to a customer. What about putting alchohal in an ice,
that would go well. Someone should buy his business and actually do
something with it, because his products are almost going to waste.
Even before they were watered down that is.

Like around 15 blocks from it. I had the peanut butter last week. It
was sorta like having water and peanut butter mixed with ice.

"Chinks" (although it has a proper name which escapes me at the moment)
in Oyster Bay, LI, NY has the best lemon ices. Hot dogs too, my father
always said, but I stuck with the ices.
