"No Legs" Murphy,
Have a big breakfast today anyway. Say your prayers tonight. Who knows,
tomorrow you could be a man!

Love your photos Sheldon. It looks so serene where you live. I have
the twin of your Halloween guardian but my Sylvester's nose does not
have the 3 perfect dots. However my cat may outweigh yours- because
for some reason our Sylvester is a super chunky 18 pounds. Lays on
the table the same way for afternoon brushing..
Thanks.

A warm slice of Lulu's Cafe and Bakery's famous 3 pound cinnamon bun.
We stopped for lunch in San Antonio on our way home from an overnight in
Austin area to see Kinky Friedman. Lulu's has great cfs.

How was Kinky? I haven't seen him in years (since he ran for office I think)
and didn't know he was performing again.
I looked for him last time we were in Austin 6 or 7 years ago, but he wasn't
around. In fact, word must have circulated
I was coming cause everyone I wanted to hear (Marcia Ball, Hot Club of
Cowtown, Marianne Price, etc) was out of
town performing else where.

He is an interesting man, I still have his bumper sticker when he was
running for office. Today is his birthday, Happy Birthday, Kinky.

He was, well, Kinky. He isn't running for anything but couldn't refrain
from making comments about Governor Perry. We saw him in Salado at the
Silver Springs place. He often performs there, usually at the Silver
Spur down the street.
We were hoping to visit with an old friend in Salado while we were up
there, but she's got some family difficulties right now and is not up to
visitors.
DH, a big fan of Kinky's literary career, bought his latest book and had
it autographed.
Earlier this year, Kinky made another attempt at running for governor
and he did a visit to Harlingen. DH and I went out to the airport to see
him and it turned out we were the only ones there until the local press
(two girls young enough to be my granddaughters) showed up. We had a
lovely conversation with him and he remembered us from then. He said he
loves The Valley and wants to come back to spend more time here. I gave
him our number.
If he came to dinner, what would you cook for Kinky Friedman?

It is his birthday. Becca, are you a fan of his on Facebook, too? DH
still has the "He's not Kinky, he's my governor" bumper sticker on his
Mustang and the "no teacher left behind tee shirt" He's a very good
writer and a lover of animals.

Janet, we are friends on Facebook, but I do not know him personally. I
have a couple of his bumper stickers, from the last time he ran for
office, but I saved them instead of putting them on my car.
Some of Kinky's quotes (paraphrasing) are memorable:
The first thing I'll do if elected is demand a recount.
I just want Texas to be number one in something other than executions.
I have more hair that Governor Rick Perry, just not in the right places.
Politics is the only field in which the more experience you have, the
worse you get.

a home, we never married and we traveled around the countryside
irritating people.

He's quite a character. Can't wait till DH finishes with his book so I
can read it, too.

Amen to that! I am so sick of all these lying politicians with agendas
that ignore what the people really want and need.
