opener

I'm just curious. One of the reviews states that "if you have a
cabinet lip, you are cautioned to use only two screws." Why is that?

I looked all over before I ordered mine from Amazon and didn't find
one . Maybe you would have better luck.

Sorry to respond so late - - the two required screws are the front ones that
go up into the cabinet frame. If the frame forms a lip then you need a
proper thickness shim board to take up the lip space between the opener and
the cabinet floor before installing a third screw in the rear. If you try a
shim board that's too thin, there's a chance the opener plastic might crack,
so rather than risk that, they're saying the opener is strong enough to use
with just the front screws holding it.

This works easier and required no screws. Lids just screw off once you
break the vacuum seal.

My wife's jar opener is broken, but he's going in for repair on
Tuesday morning.

I have one which was installed by a previous owner but never use it.
I can't seem to exert enough push and turn pressure simultaneously.

Most can openers simply give you extra leverage to turn the lid. While that
works, breaking the vacuum seal works even better. Use something like the
Lee Valley opener or even a simple bottle opener on many lids.

That's why I like mine.....it doesn't take a lot of push and turn
pressure, it seems to work quite easily, way better
than the old put it between your knees and strain method! ;-)
