I'm feeling fat, again!
I'm feeling fat, again!
Got out the creamed chipped beef on toast again.
Had my heart set on "Taste of Chicago" hot dogs.
Rats!
I'm done for Monday, Monday!.
Maybe a lemon cookie, later.
Respectfully,
Andy

The good news is - You're not hooked on Nutella and Fluff toasted
sandwiches yet!

sf,
I know. I blew it!
I've been a bit put off about getting gout.
They've been in the freezer for a couple of months now.

Sorry about the gout thing, Andy. Didn't know hot dogs did it too...
I guess it's the organ meat. Thankfully hubby doesn't eat hot dogs,
so that's one thing he doesn't need to think about. Aren't you taking
Allopurinol? I thought you were. I'm making headway talking hubby
into it because sometimes you aren't told all the ingredients in food.
He thinks something we were told was "meat" on vacation had some
shrimp in it too. It tasted good, he ate them several days in a row
and had gout for three weeks afterward. Not fun.

A guy I work with gets gout from eating food with too much salt.

Yeah, sf, it's all YOUR fault!
<VBG>
I tried allopurinol at first but decided I'd rather cut back on foods
that I loved too much.
I dropped a ton of weight that way. NOT a ton, actually.
I still have a prescription of it around here, somewhere. Well beyond
expiration.

Cheryl,
I've been forced to jump through hoops to avoid gout.
Not pleasant.
I don't know if it's just a guy thing.
I don't wish gout on anybody!!!

300 mg/day keeps the kidney stones away, at least that's why I was
told to take it.

So it's a twofer? That's good to know.

As a datapoint, I am using the other traditional uric-acid-lowering
drug (Probenecid) and it's worked well for me. It has fewer and
less serious side effects than Allopurinol. (But not every gout
sufferer can use it, it requires a bit more testing to find out.)
