Had the first of what's gonna be a LOTTA pork chops this evening. I
just pan fried one in a little olive oil and some freshly ground black
pepper, garlic powder and sage. Pretty yummy!

We can pickup a whole loin for about $20, save enough for a roast.

Mine was already sliced into chops.

Boneless loins go on sale here for $1/lb pretty often. $1.49 even
more often.
Last time I got a whole one I slung it over my shoulder like a sack of
potatoes when I got in/out of the cab and that cab driver now always
refers to me as, "the guy with the big penis". Uh, yeah. Whatever
you say, queer.

Mine is bone-in (or on).

Re: I just bought an entire PORK LOIN for $1.49/lb!!
The local food emporiums often have pork loins buy one get one free,
which is when I pick them up, and when I get two I cut one into inch
thick chops and leave the other for roasting. I prefer the chops
broiled, adding a dash of salt, pepper and Old Bay with a splash of
either lemon juice or lime juice.

Are you guys talking about a bone-in or boneless loin? I see the Boneless
all the time for 1.99 around here, seldom do I see a full bone in loin. I
like to get them and cut center chops and the two ends for roasts.

Well that answers my last question. I prefer the bone it. for roasts and
chops. Better flavor. We do use the boneless though, as it is versatile
for many dishes.

To bad, I like to cut the chops the thickness that we like.

Yeah, I know. When I first saw the 1/2 inch slices, I though "Cool!",
but after cooking one I remembered why I always liked to get the thick
cut chops. S'OK though, I don't need THAT much meat with every meal.
And as long as I don't cook them too much/long, they will still be
yummy. Last night's was! Mmmmmmm! Chops! :-)
I'm thinking about currying one next! Chicken has not gone on sale
here lately, nor am I happy. So maybe it's time to try making curried
pork chops! :-)

It has become increasingly difficult to find a bone-in pork loin,
seems they're all boned when cryovaced. The Hispaqnic markets still
have bone-in pork. I was looking for a bone-in pork roast yesterday,
they didn't even have pork chops with bones.

Nice!! I just paid several times that for some boneless loin chops, served
last night with red cabbage braised with cranberries and walnuts (a very
good red Burgundy to drink).

in butter and garlic.
