My daughter and I are US-born caucasians who mainly eat Asian food.

Funny you should mention that...... I/we seem to lean toward Asian more
often than not..... or, I should say, I used to, but still do for the SO.
Had some Basmati rice in the fridge, that I had cooked about 4-5 days ago
in chicken stock (for a Hainanese chicken dish), and had covered it with
paper towel to dry it out a bit.
So I made some Fried Rice.
Meat version for the SO, and a plain vege version for me.
If I had some prawns on hand, I may have put them in mine (and maybe hers)
but I didn't.
I like to dry the rice out, and get the wok smoking hot, and get some nice
browning bits on some of the rice.... to get that "breath of the Wok"
taste.
SO's meaty rice completed........

And starting on the vege version......

Veg version on the left, meat on the right.........
