Thread: Hey, I just joined!

    Default Hey, I just joined!

    Hey guys,
I just joined the group! Greetings!!
I'm Robert, a young man from P.M.C. and I'm about to live on my own.
I'd love to have some tips on preparing food and stuff. Bachelor food
usually sucks, so I'd like to know how to take care of myself well.
    This should be pretty cool.
I look forward to learning stuff here.

    Hi Robert!

Welcome to the group! You like to eat, correct? What do you like to
eat? That's the first question you have to answer for yourself (and
for us on RFC), and then we can start talking about how to cook what
    you like to eat.

    What is P.M.C.?
To take care of yourself, eat a balanced diet, get 8-9 hours of sleep
nightly, don't smoke, use alcohol in moderation, and exercise regularly,
giving your cardio system a good workout. Drink plenty of water.
    That's a start.

Do people do this on those social networking sites, too?

If this is some sort of class assignment, you'd think they'd target
those sites rather than poor old Usenet.

I recommend "Joy of Cooking." It's a very good cookbook for starters.

Hey, he used the words "bachelor" and "sucks" in the same sentence, Steve,
you two should become *very* fast "friends"...

What follows may sound like a joke, but I'm being perfectly serious:

If you want a really, really simple cookbook, look for one intended for
college students. They're not quite at the level of explaining what
water is and what boiling is before telling how to boil water, but
    close.

Cookbooks for children aren't as simple, but have better illustrations.

I suspect the difference is because people who've gotten to college age
without learning to cook will have an attitude of "Oh no -- I have to
learn this complicated stuff before I can eat!" While kids look
forward to playing with a new set of toys.

i think 'look forward to playing with a new set of toys' applies to most of
