I just hope this day does not repeat over and over as it
is a sucky day, although not a bad as yesterday. (Long
OT story.)

BTW, I've eaten groundhog. It's not awful, as I recall.
It was about 50 years ago.

It's a 125 year old tradition. The groundhog isn't anywhere's near
that old.

Dear Kitchen Kate,
The electricity just came on about 30 minutes ago.
I fell back asleep before the groundhog woke up.
It's dripping wet raining over here in Philly.
Could be a s-Kate-ing rink before the day is done.
All things considered I'd rather be in Pittsburgh.

That's what I get for not reading the whole thread before posting.
Woodchuck sounds slightly more appetizing.

I cooked mine over a charcoal grill. [I nearly said the 'B' word] A
bit of salt and pepper & Bob was my uncle.
It reminded me of beef on chicken bones. all nice red meat- no fat.
Pleasant flavor.
I would prefer it to squirrel. Not as tough and more 'beefy' flavor.

Yup...they are in the ground squirrel family and are marmots.
I hate the bastards. They are quite destructive.

Re: Happy Groundhog Day!
Our local groundhog, General Beauregard Lee, gets Waffle House for
breakfast -- raw hashbrowns.
He did not see his shadow. I hope he is right; I am ready for some
spring weather.

I don't see anything in there about anybody making a determination of
the specific age of the specific groundhog in question. According to
the official website he's 125 years old.
