Although it wouldn't be nearly as dramatic, chilling regular
bowls in the freezer
would be a lot more practical.

Practical schmactical. I think it looks fun... except I don't eat
cold soup and I don't have a freezer big enough to make or store more
than two, so no dinner parties with ice bowls for me in the near
future.

I think it sounds like a great idea, and I have plenty of room in the
upright freezer to store quite a few. What I don't have are the bowls to
make them with.
