Goodbye Budweiser!
Goodbye Budweiser!
Depending on the shareholder vote, Anheiser Busch will become the property of
!Bev a Belgium company.
There goes the neighborhood.
I shall not be drinking Bud Light any longer.

Yeah, I briefly caught a bit of this on the news this morning. Who bought
out Anheiser-Busch?

Some company named InBev.
I only interject into this thread because of an amusing
coincidence. Since my new pc, whenever I bring open
rfc, it brings up older and older posts. I'm back to 08/2004.
It's been kind of funny to see what we were talking about
then, and see some old faces.
At any rate, I opened rfc this morning and the old post it
opened was kili and sf talking about coors and whether
it's imported and kili said that to her Coors is domestic as
Bud.

I lived next door to the one Bush kid. He lived in the condo behind me.
His boyfriend was killed by his father. Eventually the kid was married
off. He threw a great party though.

I doubt anything perceptible will change, Andy. !Bef is not going to
tamper with the legendary history and reputation of a product that's a
commercial success. Only the ownership will change. Besides, German beers
are legenary in themselves. Would you rather it be a company from the
Congo that bought them out?

Work looks good to me. Seriously. If I worked I'd have to hire help to
keep all up. It's a mysetery to me. Work... do not work.. I just don't
get it.
I am busy though.

They're not going to announce any changes until after the sale.
The morning news talking heads are talking about the new owners might drop
the Clydesdales and superbowl commercials as it's "not part of their
marketing strategy."
And there will be layoffs.
Congo? I don't like the idea of American money going to a foreign concern,
period. Dammit!

Bleh....I've never bothered with that swill anyway. I've always favored
micros or beers from smaller non megabreweries.
This is my current mainstay. Brewed right here locally and
Reinheitsgebot pure: http://www.christianmoerlein.com/site.php No rice,
no adjuncts, no cheap ingredients. Just water, barley, hops and yeast.
Before prohibition we had about 150 locally operated brewries here and if
people would fork over a few extra pennies they could be drinking more of
the great local fare we could see that number grow again. It would also
provide a decent amount of jobs and money.
To me Bud is to beer :: as Wonder Bread is to bread. Both are an
abomination of the real thing.

Don't forget, Michael, I'm at least a decade older than you. At present
salary, we can't afford help to keep things up around the house, so double
work. I had planned to retire at 55. But then there was 9-11, and the
failure of the dot com companies, and virtually every penny of investments
went down the drain. I will probably work until I'm 70, health permitting.
And, yes, I'm bitter about it. You have good reason to have a different
perspective on things.

(laugh) I didn't mean support monetarily, I meant when your
father shoots your boyfriend and forces you to marry someone
you aren't attracted to.

The US trade deficit is *$60 Billion/month*. That gives foreign
companies lots of dollars they need to spend someplace. Buying up US
companies would be one place.

InBev, a Belgian brewing company, second largest in the world (AB is no. 3,
combined they'll be no. 1), is buying AB.

Absolute crap. Next to Coors, easily the worst beer I have ever drank. On
one hand I am glad they sold out, but on the other it does not bode well for
the health of the US economy overall. More money leaving the county instead
of staying here.
