Myer stores over here http://www.myer.com.au/ have started to stock
    Christmas decorations.

That's because they have to get rid of it by Halloween so they can bring in
    the Christmas candy.

When I worked for the Evil Empire Christmas was scheduled to arrive in store
by the first week of August. Halloween has been sitting around since the
end of April and all the Easter candy was shifted out.

And I'm still guessing why they, the townhall, mount tons of Christmas
decorative-lights at the end of november...

I've been seeing them and other signs of Halloween for a while
now. I think they are hoping to get some sales during a dismal
    season.

I was impressed last year as I entered Nordstrom's just before
Thanksgiving. They had a sign out that they would not put up Christmas
decorations until after Thanksgiving as they "celebrated just one
holiday at a time." Wish that trend would catch on!

I saw Christmas ornaments being stocked in a store yesterday. They
could at least wait till after Labor Day. Oh, wait. There isn't
anything (other than food) to sell for Labor Day. Gotta put something
    on those shelves!

What about Mother's Day, Father's Day, Graduation, and Fourth of July?
Gotta get those in there somewhere.

Huh. I am the candy buyer for our small chain of gift/card stores. There is
no way we would have candy sitting around that long. I don't know when they
make it (we don't buy candy from huge huge suppliers) , but my
fall/Halloween candy is just shipping now (I ordered it in May) , my
Christmas will ship in mid-October (also ordered in May), and I wil start
ordering Val (to ship Jan 1) and Easter (to ship March 1, Easter is late in
    2011) in October.

Our local Giant has had Halloween candy out for 2 weeks.

What, and be just another decoration? Not on your life, or at least not
    until Christmas.

Milking every moment, for every dollar :-)

I musdt admit to being a Myer 'after Christmas sale' person...... although
we haven't had the need to go to one for the past couple of years as we're
all stocked up with Christmas crap.

They have some excellent bargains at that sale.

But as soon as Christmas is over, they start hawking the Valentines Day
thing, and at the same time, start with the Easter eggs!!

They're probably counting on people buying it now, then eating it all and
having to buy more. No wonder we're a fat nation. I blame Giant! lol

They put it right up-front and center so you have to pass it when you enter
the store. That is very annoying!
