Ginger beer substitute recipe
That is, yeast is a tricky thing, it takes days to brew your own, and
the recipe I tried wasn't great, so here's something different for
those who like the taste of ginger beer.
Stir till dissolved:
1/2 to 3/4 cup brown sugar
1 tsp. powdered ginger
1/2 cup cider vinegar
Add:
I quart cold seltzer water.
(This is the recipe from Barbara Walker's "The Little House Cookbook."
Only difference is, Laura didn't have access to seltzer water, so she
just used cold well water.)
Lenona.
