Thread: Fries in your sandwich!

    Default Fries in your sandwich!

    Fries in your sandwich!

A restaurant in Pittsburgh called Primante Bros. www.primantibros.com/
as seen on TV (with a few other locations) builds every sandwich on Italian
bread with your choice of meat with cole slaw, tomato and a handful of
French fries stuffed inside. It's their decades old family tradition.

Have you ever squished French fries into a sandwich?

I did! Into cheeseburgers a few times. I always felt guilty in the public
eye during the assembly process, not after!

    You?

Lots of places do that. Quit drinking and get out of the house more
    often.

I prefer potato chips in a sandwich, they're crunchy and don't act so
much as a cheapening product filler like fries... actually I prefer
the potato chips on the side so I can add them or not. Potato chips
are great on a PB&J. Potato chips also extend a BLT without seeming
like you're being cheated. I'm not a big fan of bacon but ocasionally
    I indulge.

Yes, potato chips are wonderful in sandwiches.

    Sheldon,

Funny you should mention it. One of my first Philly cheesesteaks at
Moriarty's bar & grill in center city Philadelphia came with a small bag
of ruffles potato chips. I felt gyp'd but quickly got over it.

French fries on a burger (or inside any bread thing) is of no appeal
to me at all. As for chips, I do like Tuna sammies, but will not
bother having one unless it's put together on a good white bread,
spread with mayo, a bit of lettuce and a double layer of potato
chips. For me there are only two reasons to buy potato chips - to put
on tuna sammies and/or to use for dips.

With something else? Brits had invented the formidable "chip butty"
    before the 1960s.

The British and Ozzies have been making chip (French Fry) sandwiches for
many years. Try googling "chip butty".

No. I never put chips in there either. I don't think I would like it. I
    like my fries crispy.

Sometimes I will place potato chips on my chicken salad and tuna salad
    sandwiches.

No. But I remember a woman sending (via Fed Ex) a sandwich to one of our
programmers and it had fries on it. And yes, she was from our Pittsburgh
    office.

The classic "Italian Hot Dog" sandwich has fried potato on it.

I LOVE a bologna sandwich on white bread with mustard and potato
chips. I'll have to try the chips on PB&J and BLT's. Sounds good!

No, but I always eat at Primanti Brothers when I visit Pittsburgh.
There are three places I always eat when I go to Pittsburgh - Primanti
Brothers, Oyster House downtown for a Fish Sandwich, and Murray Avenue
    in Squirrel HIll for Pizza.
