Thread: Facebook and me

    Default Facebook and me

Please do not feel offended if you get no reply to a facebook invite.

It;s just not my 'thing' at all but can't seem to remove it. I will shortly
be removing all 'friends' and locking it so tight, it may as well have been
    deleted.

Um, hard to figure out just how blonde you may be but it's pretty evident to
*normal* people that you can't tell if you will like a thing before you try
    it.

Blondes are not normal? Why did you feel the need to insult them?

You realize that your statement only refers to us IMPERFECT people. PERFECT
    people never have these issues.

HTH ;-) And in the future, it's more PC to use the term IMPERFECT rather
    than BLONDE.

Sorry it didn't work for you. It's not for everybody, I guess.

I understand that some people have reported trouble getting rid of it.
There seem to be instructions, but that doesn't mean they work!

You've never heard *anyone* who isn't blonde say "I'm having a blonde
moment"? It is a phrase reserved for those too young to say they are
    having a "senior moment".

Thank you Jill. I just did that. I don't dislike any f the folks there,
but it's not my type of thing at all.

I think it was the 4th invite to add Goomba (who I do like) that made me
think to post to folks here, I don't do facebook.

I gather they were court ordered to provide a deletion facility. They did
not have one before that and they had very poor security managment overall.

I like FB, but it is sometimes annoying. There is a difference between
an "invitation" and a "suggestion". It appears that people who are
inactive cause FB to generate many, repeated "suggestions" to add them.

And I find all of them quite easy to ignore.

Every few days, I give my left button finger a little exercise and X
them out. The first time was a real chore, but not anymore.

It's just like ignoring some of the posters on Usenet <g>.

I like Facebook because I can see what my kids and grandkids are up to.
Just saw a gorgeous picture of a granddaughter with friends from
summer camp. I also have friends I made over the years we full-time RV'd
that I've reconnected with via FB.

I don't play any of the games and I don't post very often, but I think
    it's fun.

That's about the way I feel, too. My in-laws use Facebook as their primary
communications medium, so I read it when I can. But I feel no obligation to
add suggested friends. (Billy has shown up there more than once, and I
already feel like I know more than enough about him, even without visiting
his "LOOK AT ME!" site.) I hardly ever post to Facebook, and when I do it's
more likely to be about computer security than anything else.

Because it's such a resource hog, I've only tried getting into Facebook
once since I've been here, and I don't plan to try again until I'm back
    home.

DITTO!! FB has its place. Since I'll soon be a grandmother, I can't
wait to see the photos DS/DIL will/do post on FB It's an easy way to
share with many folks in one simple step. I see the pros & cons, and
frankly, the pros beat the cons - at least as far as seeing photos about
    soon-to-be GD

FWIW, and apropros of nothing, there's a movie coming out in October
called "The Social Network" that seems to be about the founding of
Facebook--based on the trailer it might even be decent.

So what would they call the founding of Usenet; chopped liver, perhaps?
