    Default The Eve's Eats

Boston has a lot going on tonight: ice sculptures and a gorgeous tree in
Copley Square, the Boylston Street parade, fireworks, and all the First
Night goings-on. But it's OUTSIDE, for cryin' out loud. In the DARK.

We won't have as much activity inside my warm and well-lit aerie (although
we will watch the fireworks on TV) but we sure will have some tasty eats.
Golden Temple in Brookline (the ne plus ultra in Chinese food around here)
    will be delivering dinner:

Crab Rangoon, Chicken Satay, Asian Grilled Lamb Chops, and Boneless
    Spareribs

Spicy Grilled Lamb, General WhatsHisName's Chicken, Vegetable Pad Thai, and
    Eggplant with Pork

Lemon Cake and Milk Chocolate Cake (how Chinese do they sound?)

So I don't have to worry about anything but opening the Prosecco to toast
the New Year at Greenwich Mean Time. Then it's early to bed and early to
rise, while the rest of you are sleeping it off.

I wish you all a splendid New Year.

    Felice

About 7 pm west (US) coast time - cocktails - probably martinis -
with a terrific chicken liver mousse from a local small vendor
called Chop; mousse offered with thin apple and pear slices or
thinly sliced baguette. That should get us to about 8:30 to 9.

Then give it a rest until about 11. Crack open a bottle of champagne
and we should be taking the last swig just at midnight.

And a very happy New Year to you, too, Felice.

We have a long-standing tradition on NYE of a spread made up of
appetizers and finger foods. So far we have:

    Samosas
    Honey wings
    Buffalo wings
    Phyllo quiches
A box of mixed puff pastry appies - franks, potato, spicy chicken, etc
    Puff pastry cheesy poofs
    Bowl of pop corn
A cheese platter with assorted crackers
    Olives
    Dips
    Nuts
    Veggies
Hummous topped with olive oil, chopped garlic and toasted pine nuts

Later on we'll have cakes, cookies, candies and a chocolate fondue.

Lots of soft drinks (no drinkers - imagine that!) and the ice maker is
    clicking away.

Should be fun. I wish I could share this evening with a whole bunch of
    my favorite rfc lovelies.
