The Dulce de Leche Haggen Daas (sp?) is The Bomb. One hit of that
and you're hooked. And when that pint's gone, you go get another...
At least they're only $3 each instead of $20.

I notice they are doing gelatos, again, if you can find 'em.

I stand corrected after a search on their website. I didn't see it
anywhere I used to buy it, so I assumed it was discontinued. I'll have
to buy a pint the next time it's on sale at Meijer. They *did*
discontinue the "holy cannoli" flavor; that was a good one, too.

Who was it that had the jalapeno vanilla ice cream? Boy that was good. I
sometimes mix jalapenos in myself but it isn't as good.

Since I went to the supermarket after reading this, I looked
for this ice cream. I saw Dulce de Leche Cinnamon. Is that
the stuff you're talking about?

I saw that kind, too. The default DdL comes without cinnamon.
I settled for the Creme Brulee, which wasn't nearly as good as the
DdL.

eat that pint in on sitting, as is The Plan.

To be honest, I've had a problem going through a pint of ice cream in a
week as of late. I haven't been buying Ben and Jerry's or Haagen Dazs,
though.

Such is the way of "progress". Back in the 1950s a 6 ounce Coke was the
norm, and a pint of ice cream was usually purchased shortly before
consuming it because few people had real freezers, just those small ice
cube tray compartments at the top of the refrigerator. A pint of ice cream
often served 3 or 4 people. Today, soda is usually a minimum of 12 if not
16 to 24 ounces, and serious ice cream eating requires at least a pint. :-)

The fridge in this apartment when I moved in had one of those tiny freezer
shells suspended from the ceiling of the refrigerator; it held a couple of
ice cube trays and the rest of the space was probably only the equivalent
of three or four more trays. I hate defrosting; at one point, it was
frozen completly solid. Couldn't even get the door open to work on it.

Yep, that's one of my controlled substances. The other one is Ben &
Jerry's Cherry Garcia. There's probably a 12 step program somewhere,
which can get me off this stuff, but I'm not ready to battle my
addiction.

The cinnamon version is good, especially if you like Mexican chocolate,
which is often spiked with cinnamon. But I like the original DdL better.

I didn't know it had such recognition out here, with so many
different flavors/brands being available.
I typically eat a pint in two, sometimes 3 nights. I used to just
dish out about 4 ounces at a time. Then I finally admitted to
myself that I'd just come back for more, so why not just take 6 or 8
ounces the first time around?
