I have Calphalon anodized pans. They are wonderful. I also have
Calphalon stainless steel. The stainless have
glass lids. I love both.

Which anodized one do you have? They have commercial, professional,
contemporary, unison, one anodized (this can go into dishwasher)
among a few more types?

Depends what he's planning to use it for. A 10 inch pan would be a
big omelette for one person.
An 8" pan would be too small to fry two steaks.

I like good quality saucepans and casseroles, but I don't think it's
worth spending a lot of money on a *non-stick* pan used just for
omelettes; because much cheaper ones will do that job just as well and
their lining will probably last as long .

I have the commercial grade. I bought them for the restaurant.
