We were not discussing burnt bricks. We were discussing cinder blocks.
The two are totally different products. End of my discussion on the topic.

aforementioned reasons.

What do I know. I worked in construction for about a month when I was
14. My new neighbour is a skilled bricklayer and stone mason. When he
moved next door there was a pallet of what he called cinder blocks....
light weight cement blocks with two large holes. He called them cinder
blocks. He used some of them around his fir pit. The first time he had a
fire there the blocks fell apart. I would assume that any light weight
cement block that had been fired would not break apart when exposed to a
little heat.

All CMU's will crack and crumble when exposed to heat. You need a
special tempered brick of a clay or ceramic usually, AKA fire brick,
to withstand the heat of a fire. I have a makeshift grill made out
of chimney flu tiles, for example.

No, but I've dried wet jeans in my trunk on a hot day. It's 'free'
heat.

Neither would I. I broil mine with lemon, butter, and parsley and usually
have fresh asparagus with it. Frozen if I have no fresh. One of my favorite
fishes!

I think it would be less sad if he just did not have one, rather than having
one that works the way his does. In fits and starts, reminiscent of a
drunk's.
