Default cook along during the cook-in

I think sky had a great idea in the chat channel.... cooking along
with the cook-in folks. I like it! Anybody else up for cooking along
    with them?

Well..we didn't have a great response to the cook-in...so it will only
be me, Squeaks, Koko, and Harriet. And we are moving it back to
dinner time instead of all day.

Squeaks, Koko and I will hit the Irvine farmers market on Saturday
morning...and get inspiration for dinner from there. Not too much
else is planned at this point.

Well, I will plan to cook along with you guys on Saturday if no other
obligations arise in the mean time. If I haven't broken in my pasta
machine before then, I'll make pasta dough and see what transpires.
I'm looking at mushroom ravioli filling recipes right now, but the
dough could easily end up as lasagna.

I thought that black-eyed pea recipe from Screen Doors and Sweet Tea
    was for Saturday. It's not?

Not sure yet. I am taking down some pralines... Things are pretty
loose with this mini cook-in, so I think we are flying by the seat of
our pants. I do know that Squeaks made limoncello.....

Eat 10 of those pralines for me, okay? Calories don't count when
you're doing it for a friend.

    Yep.

I am taking my netbook with me. If I could find out how to stream the
festivities to either the rfc webpage,or my blog, I would do it. I
have a built in webcam on the netbook....

Any of you computer/internet folks out there, do you know a simple way
    to do it?

If you're actually interested, cook earlier in the day and post your
recipe here. I wouldn't do it in real time if I didn't live in
    California.

Ahh, I have done international cookalong deals before but we had to be
cooking and texting/skyping/messaging/chatting all at the same time.

    Yup, that's what makes it a cook-along rather than a cook-whenever.

That's my idea of a cook-along and what has been done here before.

I agree it's the most fun to participate in real time, but honestly...
when you have an 8-10 hour difference - do you really *want* to do it
in real time? If time and distance are the only things holding you
back... please don't let that be an excuse. Lots of people in the
past have done their cooking and posted a recipe to rfc without
participating in the chat room (for whatever reason).

In fact, I've never understood why all you posters in the -1, 0, +1
time zones don't initiate your own virtual cook along. You may be in
different countries, different continents, but you're in neighboring
time zones so it makes a cook along easy. Australia has enough
posters for them to do one too. The ideal cook along, of course,
would be world wide with participants from everywhere joining during
the time that's best for them. If you don't want to be in the chat
room, then post what you're doing here. We've done that too - often
    with accompanying pictures.

Vilco and I might get drunk sometime, but who else here cooks? Nathalie,
but she is here rarely. I don't think e have the numbers. We did a
ukf+d.misc cookalong of sorts once in which many of us all cooked the same
simple dish and posted about it. That was fun.
