    Default Cheese with Pepperoni?

What kind of cheese goes with pepperoni?
I've recently taken to having cheese and crackers as an after dinner
snack. I've also found some pepperoni I like and added that.
But the cheese I've had recently hasn't matched up very well. I got some
havarti with peppers, and some extra sharp cheddar that are quite good
with crackers by themselves but don't really fit with the crackers and
    meat.

What are some good cheeses that go with crackers and pepperon?
(from that deli counter. i don't want to get gourmet and expensive.
    that's for another time.)

Mozzarella or really any Italian cheese that you like.

Sounds like you're on the Monterey Jack track. Thin sliced of course,
    if you're eating it with pre-sliced salami. I don't know if you'd
like pepper jack or plain, but that's your choice.

I'm with sf on the (Pepper)(Monterey) Jack train. Try it both
ways-- I would think the pepperless would compliment the pepperoni
better-- but it is *your* experience.

I might reach for the fontina.

BTW- I can find *good* cheese in my local big box cheaper than the
run-of-the-mill stuff from my local grocer.

Which reminds me that I'm headed there today for some goat cheese--
that *I* might like with pepperoni.

OTOH- I'd more likely do crackers and pepperoni one night-- and
crackers and cheese another. To many flavors mask the comforting
    'nose' of my bourbon.<g>

Blue cheeses can be a very pleasant combo with a spicy salami. I'm thinking
gorgonzola but also other blue cheeses should fit in well.

Mozz. I don't like pepperoni on crackers, I much prefer it on crusty
dago semolina. I'm expecting a gift box of real guinea saw-seeges,
breads, etc, to arrive from NYC for New Years. I'm looking foward to
getting my fill of cannolis, and my favorite sesame cookies. I used
to live in the Italian Alps (Rocky Point Lung Guyland). Best bakery:

Pepperoni is sharp in taste but smooth in texture. I suggest a cheese
that is smooth in taste but crumbly in texture. Maybe shredded swiss
since you think sharp cheddar didn't go well.

Pepperoni is sharp in taste and takes force with your teeth to cut
through it. I suggest a cheese that is smooth in taste and soft in
    texture. Brie.

I like cheese and crackers too, but I like to put them on a paper
plate and nuke them for about 20 seconds to get the cheese somewhat
    gooey.

At the local Publix in the specialty cheese department they have the
salami or proscuitto rolled with provolone; I think Boar's Head makes
them. Sam's Club sells a similar meat and cheese roll. Those are
great to slice thin and put on a cracker. My favorite way to eat it
is to slice it thin and stuff it into a boneless chicken breast, then
dredge it in seasoned bread crumbs and bake for a half hour at 350.

Hey! My Godfather used to live on Zenith Rd. in Rocky Point! We would go
down to visit a couple times a year. I remember Tilda's. Town Rexall
Pharmacy, correct? Tinker Bank, that name cracked me up as a kid! Davis
Peach Farm in Miller Place? Or Port Jeff? My Parents would get a hoot out
of "Broadway", they knowing what Broadway in NYC was like! IIRC there was
an A&P (?) on 25A (Northern Blvd. in Queens), my Godfather (uncle) was the
butcher there. I GoogleMapped Rocky Point, can't believe how built up it
has become. Thanks for the "blast from the past!"

I lived on Hallock Landing Road (178), third property up from the
sound... haven't been back since 1977, wonder if it's still there. I
owned that whole corner, was up high so I had a nice water view... but
it got crowded during summer... seems my house is still there and more
building has occured. I bought that house in 1965, paid $23,200...
jewed/chewed them down from $25,000... was a lot of money back then,
heating oil was 12/gal, but then along came the big fuel shortage so
I inserted a coal stove into the fireplace-awful filth-didn't last
    long.
