Bg Dinner Etc.
Was a typical Catskill winter day, cold and snowy, a great day for
great soup, so...
Filled my 16 quart pot with 2 1/2 pounds barley, 5 pounds lovely beef
(half chuck, half top round), two pounds carrots, ten ribs celery, 20
ounces 'shrooms, various herbs, spices, seasonings:

CUP 'O DOUBLE DD-LICIOUS:

And I love mushrooms (check out my favorite cup), but not TIAD style
with cheese, seafood, and especially not with greens - blech˛
'Shrooms woulda been wonderful in the chick dump dish... but ya gotta
know at least a little sumthin 'bout culinary to realize.
Poifect snowy day, look way out in the meadow:

Was a very enjoyable and productive day...
I'll be filling my freezer, adding beef barley 'shroom zup to chili,
pasta sauce, n' pea zup, and I have room... space under ice is

I love beef and barley soup. It's the perfect cold weather soup,
IMHO. Big steaming bowl with a hunk of homemade bread
and a big glass of red. Can't be beat.
You place looks nice.

I had two cups with my usual; Crystal Palace n' grapefruit juice over
ice. I gave up red wine at the advice of my dentist.

Well, a couple-three come for snacks... they get carrots and bread...
don't think I could afford to actually feed them, especially not all
of them... sometimes a herd of more than 20 congregate.

Yum, I love beef & barley soup. The way you have plastic containers
stacked in your freezer, it looks a lot like mine. Nice photos of the
deer, that area is just beautiful.

I love your "munchers". But ask me about that after I live with
my own for a while--starting in (maybe) two months or so.

They're very peaceful critters, no problem at all. What's taking so
long? Post pictures.

I have been taking pics--mostly "before". Still. So posting them
awaits the "after" ones for comparison. My kitchen cabinets
aren't even being shipped until the week of March 22nd, so that is
a major holdup. The other one is the main-floor bathroom....
I love deer and other wild critters. I do need to think about our
peaceful coexistence--and to take the fact that deer need to eat,
and will eat, into consideration. (I also need to remember to
check for deer ticks!)

You may not get to most indoor projects for years... I was thinking
more about outdoor photos.
>I love deer and other wild critters. I do need to think about our

As to deer appetite the only solution is to fence all flora you want
to keep, deer eat practically everything they can reach. Deer tick
avoidance is mostly common sense, stay out of the woods unless
absolutely necessary and then proper clothing outdoors during tick
season is a must, and before coming indoors strip down and check
carefully... run fingers and a comb through your hair, and then it's
best to shower, and launder all your clothes in hot water. And always
check footwear before and after.... you'll soon learn how to take
advantage of an attached garage... in the country guests are used to
entering and leaving through the garage, especially workmen... the
front door is never used and side doors rarely.
If you have a dog check very carefully everytime before it comes
indoors, and brush well outdoors too, even if you use tick
repellent... ticks may not bite a treated dog but if on the dog they
will still transfer to you, or other pets.

Ah. It's nothing spectacular--not like your place. I don't know

Yup. Otherwise, I have only myself to blame.

No attached garage--one big disbenefit of this house.

I only have indoor cats, so this is not an issue. I had better
keep this in mind in case my daughter decides to get a dog though.

i wonder what sheldon does with the five pounds of meat versions of this
and that? his cats *can't* eat that much, unless they're size of
volkswagens. (and don't tell me his dining room table is ringed with
friends every night. even people in the boonies aren't that starved for
companionship.)
