What is "natural food?" The term seems a little ambiguous at best.
Since you apparently consider yourself a "purist," explain it.
N.
Is it just me, or how many of you out there hate ready meals?
The chicken Ding dish that comes from the microwave, the food you take
out that is so hot it is like trying to eat Lava.
So full of salt and fat that you can feel the heart attack coming with
every mothfull.
I prefer to cook all my own food, i know what is in it, and i know i am
not going to get thrid degree burns on the roof of my mouth when i eat
it.
What's your thoughts on this. should the processed food crap that we
buy be banned?
Would doing this help us back to a healthier life style where we ate in
season foods that were good for us?
Would this cut down on the FAT western nations we are becoming?
Natural food is best, if it's in a Packet, then Bin it.

I can't solve all those other social problems but I have a tip for the
lava-hot burning temp food: let it cool down before shoving it in
your mouth. No gummint prohibition needed. -aem

Hate? Why would I hate them?

Well, gee, how about just not buying these things you don't like?
Is that really so hard?

Banned? No, don't see any reason to ban something that
other people buy and I don't. If your too much of a weak
minded fool to just not buy this stuff, then it's your problem.

Hmm, I like frozen vegetables. Does that count as in a "packet?"
I'd really not want to see them outlawed.

"hate" seems a pretty strong word for such an item, IMO

So what's stopping you from letting it cool down before you shove it in
your maw? Just like you'd do with any food cooked from scratch.

Actually there are some frozen meals that are pretty good. Amy's and
Weight Watchers are two brands I like.

Again, if you're too stupid that you keep shoveling scalding food in to
your mouth...well.. no one can help ya there...

No. Not purchased routinely perhaps, but I don't need a Nanny-State
governing my food choices.

Probably not. One has to be motivated not just left with no options.

a lot of perfectly good food is fattening. Over-eating and under
exercising are the culprits for many.

Salt and fat (the two items you mentioned above) are perfectly natural.

Natural foods should be banned. They have dirt on them.
Nobody ever got E. coli H0157 from processed food.

Dirt? What do you think they grow in? Just wash off root vegetables and
tubers before you cook them. Rinse off fruit from the trees and berries
from bushes.

I don't hate such things. Sometimes I just try to ignore them. Give it
a try.

Let it cool before eating. Oh, I forgot, you were in too big a hurry to
cook.

You only make cold food?
> What's your thoughts on this. should the processed food crap that we

No. Why don't you just stop buying it? They won't make it if people
don't buy it.
> Would doing this help us back to a healthier life style where we ate in

No. People could still make choices that didn't fit your concept of
"healthy".
> Would this cut down on the FAT western nations we are becoming?
Depends.
To change the subject a bit, why are you preaching to the choir? Folks
here are interested in cooking, not buying junk at the store and heating
it in the microwave. We would much rather you posted about good food
that you like, instead of reading a "lecture" about stuff we normally
don't eat anyway.

Well I see that i have started something here.
I gave my opinion, and many of you all seemed to rise to this.
You say no-one ever got ill from processed food. i beg to differ. it is
always process food that starts the Ecoli break-out. especially when not
treated correctly.
I give my opinion you respond that's how forums work. If you don;t like
it then in this free world you can disagree.
Fair point on my not buying processed, i don't, maybe I was preaching,
letting of steam if you will. But do you agree with all the guys on TV
or Government. No.
Keep the debate nice and not getting nasty to each other. What's the
point?
The worlds crap enough.
Nothing wrong with making food then heating it up in the micro.
The reason i hate processed food is that i worked in the industry for a
while and when you see what they do no wodner. you know there are more
regulations in making pet food than making food for human consuption.
Sometime i feel cheated when you find out they have injected chicken
with brine to make it look bigger that it actually is.

You didn't read the label when you bought the chicken? IIRC, any liquid
added to a meat/poultry product has to be disclosed on the label.
Shop smart, then you won't feel cheated.

I love cooking with wine.
Sometimes I even put it in the food.

The last big flap was over raw spinach:
http://www.cdc.gov/ecoli/2006/september/
People in the US (maybe North America) were advised not to eat *any*
fresh spinach during this outbreak.
Do you have any cites?
> I give my opinion you respond that's how forums work. If you don;t like

Sometimes opinions are interesting. When we are talking about food
borne illnesses and nutrition, I'd rather deal in facts.
> Sometime i feel cheated when you find out they have injected chicken

Do you have some facts to back that up? I don't believe chicken looks
bigger when injected with brine. Chicken is sold by weight. Brine is
heavy and extremely cheap. The chicken folks would love to sell you
water at chicken prices.
